What I love about capsule wardrobes, is getting creative to do more with less. At its core, the idea is to zero in on versatile pieces in a coordinating palette so that everything mixes and matches; making getting dressed easy. Lori’s motto, “anything goes with everything”, dovetails perfectly with the capsule concept.

While I know an entire small, edited wardrobe isn’t realistic for many people, I think it can still be a great concept to apply to our basic, core wardrobe; ensuring that our essentials or principle pieces are streamlined, versatile, and of good quality so that they can be worn interchangeably and don’t require constant replacement. This is also the core concept of our Principles line, it’s made up of key items and go-to pieces that can be worn on repeat to make your life easier.
The capsule goal is to really edit your wardrobe and remove pieces that don’t encompass your aesthetic and/or are pieces that only served a single purpose; say goodbye to things you wore once and might wear again…someday in the future. What I love about editing down the principle or core pieces of a wardrobe, is that it really lets you hone in on your personal style. When you start with a solid, flattering base, you can really showcase who you are in the supplemental pieces you add to your base outfit. You really start to build a wardrobe that is unique to you and truly represents your style.
In the end, this process is all about mindset, not quantity; and it really adds a level of clarity when you’re out shopping. You really start to access potential new pieces with a new perspective. Does this piece really bring something new to your wardrobe? Does it really flatter me or is it just a great deal? Do I actually envision a lot of long term use of this piece? Will this piece work for all aspects of my life?

Capsule wardrobes allow you to get creative with your wardrobe in a new way. You can wear the same outfit multiples times and the way you accessorize it will allow you to truly realize its potential. Prints, accessories, and shoes can truly transform your principle pieces. Another bonus, is that they often save you time! No more rummaging through hundreds of pieces trying to find exactly what you want – you have the perfect base to build off of everyday.
I decided to take the capsule challenge and make as many LOGO looks as I could with the minimum pieces. I ended up working with 8 (check #) pieces from our Principles collection and 5 bottoms from across our collections (check #) to create 25/26 (check #) looks! It was an incredibly fun challenge and was a great test of my creativity. Adding our gorgeous jewelry, shoes, and additional accessories really helped it individualize each look. Jessie and I had so much fun working on this shoot and I hope you love it too. Are you interested in taking the capsule challenge? Do you use parts of this concept when adding to or editing your own wardrobe? Do you think the idea of being more thoughtful in what you bring into your wardrobe is helpful? I started my capsule wardrobe utilizing the 333 concept (33 pieces per month for 3 months) a while ago. As I live in a true 4 season area I adjusted the number to fit my needs-more like 38 pieces per month for 4 months. I have since incorporated many Logo pieces as Lori gives us great colors and style. I continue to to purge as each season ends and find that with Logo I need less.
